Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll, was first published in 1865. The book opens up with a bored Alice, lazily sitting by a riverbank on a hot summer afternoon, "...when suddenly a White Rabbit with pink eyes ran close by her." Nothing unusual about that - until the hurried rabbit pulls out a pocket-watch from the waistcoat it was wearing! Alice follows him into his rabbit-hole and so begins one of the craziest adventures with the most memorable characters that a little girl has ever experienced!
