The Haunted Man and the Ghost's Bargain, by Charles Dickens, was first published in 1848 and is the fifth of the five Dicken’s “Christmas” books. Professor Redlaw is a teacher of chemistry, who is tired of remembering a troubled past of hurts and sorrows. He is haunted by a phantom, eerily similar to Redlaw himself, who makes him a proposition: he can wipe all of the painful memories from his past. But is forgetting the painful past truly beneficial? Professor Redlaw is about to find out. Check out the other Dickens Christmas classics: A Christmas Carol, The Chimes, The Cricket on the Hearth, and The Battle of Life.
