The Blue Fairy Book (Volume 1 of the “Colored Fairy Books"). The “Colored Fairy Books”, by Andrew Lang, together make up one of the largest collections of fairy tales ever compiled from a broad range of cultures and nationalities. In all, the collection presents 437 fairy tales over twelve volumes – each named by a distinctive color. All the volumes have been richly illustrated primarily by Henry J. Ford. The Blue Fairy Book, first published in 1889, contains the classics “Little Red Riding-Hood”, “Sleeping Beauty in the Wood”, “Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp”, “Beauty and the Beast”, and 33 other tales.
