The Battle of Life, by Charles Dickens, was first published in 1846. The fourth of Dickens five “Christmas” books, The Battle of Life follows the lives of two sisters, Grace and Marion, and their widower father Dr. Jeddler. Mystery ensues when the younger sister, Marion, apparently elopes the night that her fiancée Albert is set to return. One of Dicken’s lesser known works, it is still sure to delight.
