A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens, was first published in 1843 and remains today as an immensely popular Christmas tale that has be adapted to film, stage, opera and a variety of other forms and re-telling. Contained here is the original story, illustrated by John Leech, that tells of the interminable miser Ebenezer Scrooge, his gruff treatment of underpaid Bob Cratchit, and his general disgruntled attitude toward Christmas epitomized by his “Bah! Humbug!” outbursts. Hearts can change, however, and Scrooge is about to face some fantastical experiences which may melt even his heart. Check out the other Dickens Christmas classics: The Chimes, The Cricket on the Hearth, The Battle of Life, The Haunted Man and the Ghost’s Bargain.
